Galaxy screens in three groups
- S Ultra and Note — large AMOLED screens. Older Ultras and Notes curve over the sides; the newest Ultra is flat again.
- S, S Plus and FE — flat AMOLED, with the fingerprint reader under the screen.
- A series — the A5x and A3x models are AMOLED too; the lowest-priced A0x and A1x models are often LCD.
Green line on a Galaxy
A thin green line from top to bottom is a known AMOLED fault on a number of Galaxy models. Samsung has offered help for this on some models, under its own conditions. Ask a Samsung service centre first; if your phone isn't covered, we can quote a line repair or a new screen.
Keeping the in-screen fingerprint
Galaxy S and many A models read your fingerprint through the screen. That needs an OLED panel. If you use it, choose Genuine, Original grade or an OLED grade — a TFT screen will mean switching to face or PIN unlock.
